May is a very special month for us. A huge part of RMI's team are veterans, so with great pleasure and respect we will dedicate this month's online communication to honor their precious service to our country.

I hope that we can light the candle of memory and spark the fire of unselfish donation and patriotism.

  Donna Irwin

The attached pictures are of 50 sets of hats and scarves knitted and crocheted by Donna Irwin, Cindy Rice, and Cindy's mom and aunt to be donated to the homeless vets in the area. Each set was put into a zip lock bag along with a pair of new socks and several non perishable food items. The homeless vets were given a bag when going to the veterans administration for a Christmas dinner. They were all very happy to get their package.

The POW-MIA afghan was knitted by Donna Irwin and auctioned off during a fund raiser. Donna is a member of Rolling Thunder chapter 7. A silent auction was held as well as a auction on larger items. The POW-MIA afghan brought in $835.00 which went toward the homeless vets account. In total that day approximately $4500.00 was raised. Donna and her husband are very proud to be part of this wonderful group.
Donna is an RMI supervisor at the AK Steel Rockport Location.

According to the NYPD this are four ways to increase your personal safety:

Reduce or eliminate opportunities that may make you a target.
Increase awareness in places you're most comfortable.
Trust your instincts regardless of feeling embarrassed.
Prepare your schedule daily with safety in mind.

A tourist asks a man in uniform, "Are you a policeman?"
"No, I am an undercover detective."
"So why are you in uniform?"
"Today is my day off."
